vj dubassy (aka dan talson) is a video artist and live visuals performer orignally from london. currently based in the amazing pulsating city of barcelona following two years living in marseille, he has spent the last 7 years creating unique and original visuals and vjing at club events and music festivals all over london, europe and further afield. in oct 2007 dubassy was voted no. 7 in the dj mag's top 20 vj competition, which runs alongside the top100 djs poll, this was up four places from no. 11 in 2006.
his visuals are primarily sold by getty images, the worlds most recognised image library, to clients all over the world for use in broadcast, company promotion, marketing and interactive websites. also vjs and videoists on a budget can go to vjloops.tv for dubassy clips. previous clients for custom video projects include michelob beer, greenpeace, mtv, microsoft msn, ministry of sound, studio88 club in aix en provence, subliminal records, the parc national de port-cros and djs like rui da silva and marc romboy.
live performing of his visuals all began around 2001, in the back room of the rhythm factory, in london's east end, where a small, funky and very friendly party called fruity was held. since then he has performed at most clubs in london, including a residency over 2 years at ministry of sound for nights such as nastydirtysexmusic, club class and switch. also the annual breakspoll awards party at fabric, hospital records events at heaven, oscar fullone's mishmash at cargo, and more than 2 1/2 years, monthly at the vibe bar, brick lane. other clubs include 93feet east, the cross, canvas, koko, and pachalondon. festivals include playing 3 times at glastonbury in the dance and roots tents, the big chill, homelands, global gathering and escape to the park, wales.
since moving from london on a journey south in search of the sunshine, dubassy has performed at more european-wide events, highlights include urban artforms in austria, electromind in montpellier, marsatac and opus vj in marseille, name festival in lille, mtv events in barcelona, also trips to valencia, berlin, linz, figuras, ibiza and paris, to play at different events and clubs, finally a previous 1 month residency at elevate club in delhi, india. march 2008 saw dubassy in miami during the wmc, performing at the beatport remix hotel amongst other events.
during this journey the number of djs and acts he has performed alongside is large, including roni size, norman jay, zero7, andy c, soul2soul, quantic soul orchestra, dave clarke, dj hype, smokin jo, asian dub foundation, scratch perverts, krafty kuts, judge jules, plump djs, kissy sellout, guru, london elektricity, dj cash money, ltj bukem, and danny rampling amongst many others.
